About Us

Who We Are

The Selma Cinema Festival was founded by Foot Soldiers Park to showcase diverse voices and celebrate the power of film as a catalyst for social change.

A key goal of the festival is to bring people together from different backgrounds who may not typically engage with one another, fostering dialogue and connection through film. Set in Selma, a city renowned for its legacy of activism, the festival serves as a platform for advocacy and change through the art of cinema.

Foot Soldiers Park is a nonprofit organization on a mission to preserve the civil rights history of Selma, create opportunities for the Black community to heal, learn and build wealth, and to embolden youth to claim and use their power for change.
